Amid international condemnation of human rights abuses by the CCP, members of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) have continued to claim “sport is sport, politics is politics,” in order to stand up for Beijing.
IOC President Thomas Bach, has stated that the relationship between the Chinese Communist Party, and the IOC, is a “mutually beneficial” partnership. It not only helps the development of Chinese sports, but also provides a solid foundation for the Olympic movement to move forward.
Is that the real situation? Perhaps it is only the members of the Olympic Committee, and their associated families, who benefit from the partnership.
