Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, many may have been wondering why the EU is not stepping up to protect Ukraine? Germany plays a very major role here. And Germany’s attitude is related to it’s pacifism. Over the last decade or so, this posture has undermined its defenses and those of the EU.
And while Germany may want to help Ukraine, it has to tread carefully, in order to not directly involve itself in the war, making it another country that is against Russia in the war.
No one wants a nuclear war, which is what Putin has threatened, only days ago. So even though Germany has economic influence and strength, it must seek its own counsel on how to proceed.
